My son who lives close by us has off from work this week, so we had been invited for lunch this afternoon along with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I received a substitute teaching call today, however, so I couldn’t go for lunch at their house. I was a little “bummed out” by that, but everything turned out so beautifully in the end.
First of all I had a very enjoyable day substitute teaching a class of kindergarteners. My son picked up my husband, and my husband was still able to go there for lunch.
Then when I came to their house after teaching I saw my husband in the chair with two of the granddaughters on his lap watching a movie. (the 6 year old and 5 year old) Because of my husband’s disease I don’t see him interacting with the grandkids as much as I would like, so that was so good to see.
Then I got to hold our newest little grandchild, little William. William had been sleeping much of the afternoon, so I hadn’t missed out on anything in that regard.
After we got home I was able to take a walk also on this gorgeous day. I didn’t even wear a coat on my walk!
The only thing I missed out on was the steak my son grilled for lunch. I had a TV dinner when we got home to our apartment. Oh, well you can’t have it all!
Caregiving can get heavy emotionally sometimes. Thank you, Lord, for the wonderful blessings of this day!
Oh, I can *hear* how wonderful your day was! I’m so glad! Your blessings include a very wonderful and loving family. Enjoy!!
