Hello, today I wanted to remember all of us and wish everybody celebrating Easter that they and their caregivers or caregiven have as special and as tranquil a holiday as is possible. And for those here of us who do not celebrate Easter, still I wish for you the realization of the rebirth, new beginnings, life, and confirmation of hope which make up the spirit of this holiday. It’s a weird, difficult day in many ways for several of us who, despite our current challenges, move forward with some inertia to try to celebrate and enjoy the day…at my house in my life, Easter always used to be one of the very few times mom, as well as my now-deceased dad, brother, and maternal grandmother were always together and happy at home with a great Italian dinner, warm and joyous. Today, my mom and I find ourselves going out to a restaurant to eat for the holiday. Then we pay our respects to our abovementioned deceased loved ones at their cemeteries. It’s about feeling a bit out of place, lost, alone, bereft of certain happy memories — and the loved ones who were the source for many of them. But death, sickness and responsibilities cannot — I repeat, CANNOT — take away a good heart, caring gestures, smiles, embraces, kisses, benevolent deeds or messages. Keep, celebrate, share, own, and hang onto those in all of your lives today, OK? We’re all in it together! And this will help us get through this, one of those days, and then into a still sunnier tomorrow. Enjoy and God bless! Gary.
