It’s Not a Task, It’s an Attitude: Self-Care Sensibilities

Yesterday, Anna Stookey joined us on Your Caregiving Journey. I love having Anna has a guest because she offers amazing insights; she has a beautiful way of looking at life and life within caregiving. Our show topic, “The Why’s of Self-Care”, was inspired by our August show (“Realistic Relationships“–a must listen!). During that show, our discussion about healthy relationships turned to the most important relationship we have–the one with ourselves. When we are at peace with ourselves, we find peace within other relationships. More importantly, we peacefully leave relationships which no longer serve us.

But, the advice (“Take care of yourself”) can sometimes illicit an “Oh, No” groan. Our instinctive reaction to the advice can be, “Oh, no, one more thing to do. Bluch.”

Anna broke it down for us yesterday in such a way that self-care becomes a desire–we want to take care of ourselves. It’s not labor–it’s tapping into what we already have.

Take a listen–and then be sure any insights you have in our comment section.

Believe it or not that is how much I love this website. I was actually listening to older blogs again and this was a great one especially during this hectic time of year. Ann reminded me that every day you must check in and ask yourself what you need. I work out but it is not just about that. we have to show up for ourselves. no matter how busy we are we must take at least 20 minutes to do something just for us….
that was my 20 minutes today….I listened to this very good show!!
