Have you ever gone to a baseball game or a concert? Isn’t it amazing no matter the age, the race or the sex of the audience everyone in the arena for a few hours come together to cheer the team or excitedly be entertained by the performer. Every single person has a common goal. We took Mom to bingo Saturday and when I picked her up I got the same feeling of a group collecting to meet and have a great time sharing things in common. It must be incredibly hard for Mom. She is the last living relative from her generation and so many of her friends have also left her.
It is difficult for her to find that common place anymore. At Bingo she and all of the ladies and men forgot their aches, pains and loneliness for a little while to gather and play the same game. While they were hoping to win and some showed a bit of disappointment when they were not the lucky one to call out BINGO they all had that goal. They all had the sense of having things in common in a world of stress and change and enjoy the same activity.
I think as caregivers we need to keep that mentality as well. We need to surround ourselves with people or activities where we fit. We can vent about our children to other Moms but if we complain about the frustrations of our sick husband or elderly parent it seems to some like we are being cold or unfair. At Bingo nobody was judging the performer or anyone in the room. They were all gathered to have enjoyment. They all understood they were there to ultimately win but more importantly to enjoy the time together.
We are all a team. We must learn to gather together and share the ultimate goal of enjoying our lives while doing this very important job. I hope this week if you cant actually get to a concert or a ball game to surround yourself with your own team of friends. I’m cheering for each and every one of you to have a winning week with lots of applause.

Hi Donna–I love this post! Your headline is so true! When we surround ourselves with a true team cheering us on, we can do anything we set our mind to. I’m glad you’re on my team.
I’m glad I am on this team also. I don’t belong to too many teams, but am so proud and honored to be here, on this caregiving team, now, also on the Spirit Jump team, which is so amazing to be part of, and on the team of proud parents, family and friends of my son’s football team. Its important to feel you belong somewhere, to know that there is at least one other person out there, somewhere, who is feeling at some moment of the day, the same thing you are.. who can relate to you, and ROOT you on. I give thanks daily for this caregiving team, my life has been blessed with women like you, Donna, and Denise, who I feel really do care about me and are rooting me on. This is a great post. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know about it!!!
I was reading my older blogs today and thought this would be a nice reminder for all of you…..based on my latest blog it truly confirms we are all on the same team for sure!!!…..Lets all keep gathering together……hopefully one of us will be yelling BINGO sometime soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im grateful for this gathering place…I truly am….thank you!!!!
