Celebrate

Strawberry and Champagne - Day 246

In a world full of caregiving, the celebrations may seem few and far between. A family member isn’t doing well, so it may seem that celebrations just aren’t appropriate.

It’s actually a perfect time to celebrate.

A disease or illness will rob you and your family of so much–don’t let it rob you of celebrations. Celebrate that you can still laugh, that you can know joy, that blessings live in your life. In particular, celebrate all that you do and all that you accomplish. And, celebrate those who help you with your achievements.

Celebrate life.

Good article! There is so much in caregiving that can get one down, (like I am feeling tonight) but there still is many blessings. We have to look for them

Oh, I’m sorry! It’s hard to stay “up”–but we are here to prop you “up” on those tough days. I hope tomorrow brings you a wonderful, unexpected blessing.

The Winter months can make us all fee down sometimes Sharon. I hope everything is going a little better for you today. Im thinking of you. This weekend we should all either bake some cupcakes or run to the supermarket and buy a sweet treat and just celebrate we are together. Nothing can make you smile more than cake. Come on, we do it for our birthdays, and holidays….I have to make an emotional visit to a family member this weekend but it is not going to get me down..I am going to get that cake and celebrate!! I bought cookies over to a neighbor going through some tough times and told her to take a break with a sweet and it didnt solve her problems but it made her smile…great article denise…

It hard to believe that a family member is stealing item from my house, what can I do? It is embarrassing and difficult for me to bring it up.

Hi–I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. How upsetting! If you are over 65 and feel you are being victimized by a family member, then call your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and ask for help. A social worker can provide guidance and support to help. You can find the number for your local AAA here: http://www.eldercare.gov.
