Hi Kathy--Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry! It's awful to feel awful and that no one cares. Have you called the Area Agency on Aging in your community? I'm not sure if the agency is not helping... but the agency has funding (and staff) to help. You can find the local agency here. And, please consider joining one of our online support groups. The members understand! You can learn more here.

hello:how can i get repite???? i have been taking care of my whole for 7yrs. now my sister is deceased and so is my daddy. i still have my mama and brother(mentally-ill)and my mother loves him and he can do no wrong in her eyes.my dad was put in nursing home for 90 days for rehab and he had a terminal illness.my mother won’t take her medicine been in new day 3x fell and broke her wrist had surgery.i’ve begged for respite and she has met the criteria.she has medicare,bluexand blue shield and tri-care insurance!! PLEASE I NEED A BREAK!!!! I CRY CONSTANTLY!!! NOBODY WILL LISTEN!!! THEY DON’T KNOW AND CARE!!! HELP!!!

When I talked to the lady from Aging and Disability in this area, she said I could be paid, but I had to be hired by an organization called Soceity’s Assets, trained by them, mom would be assessed, what needed to be done and how long it took. I would be paid for maybe 5 hours of caregiving at probably $8 or less….this is set up through Medicad. I said, uh no thanks.

For you, this may be acceptable and doable, it was not for me. So, look for your local Aging and Disability org or Senior Services, ElderCare that type of thing, they can direct you and give you the info you need.

I heard i can have help economically when i bring my mother to care for her at home.
I will not be able to work and any help with money will be a Godsend.
Where can I find out information on this? My mother is coming next week.
