Yesterday morning on Your Caregiving Journey, Skye Lanford, one of our family caregivers who blogs, joined us for a discussion about caring for her husband, taking care of her two young daughters and managing her small business. (You can listen to our interview via the player at the bottom of this post.)
Skye shares poignant stories (she recorded her husband’s hair re-growth with photography) and difficult moments (after a surgery last year, Chad could not remember her). She also offers suggestions for other spousal caregivers. You’ll find her both delightful and inspiring.
After our show with Skye aired, I drove to meet Donna W., who lives about two hours north of me. We met at a mid-way location for both of us for lunch. It was our first face-to-face meeting, but we were already great friends. We spoke about her life during caregiving and her goals for life after caregiving. Donna W’s priority is to make sure the family caregivers who follow in her place know and feel support and comfort. (I had a photo taken of us but I apparently didn’t save it to my phone. Next time, I promise!)
Yesterday was a special day for me because I connected with two wonderful women. I hope today is a day like that for you—that you can bond with a special someone (in person, on the phone, online) who reminds you why you do what you do.
you didn’t save the photo??? thank you God!!!
