Hi Westflorida–I’m glad you’ve found us. Can you tell us a little more about your situation? Perhaps telling us about it will help.

My husband brian has frontal lobe dementia he was diagnosed three years ago.
I am projecting into the future and that is not a good thing to do I know. We have been married for 26 years and for the last 16 years I have not worked. We are living on my husbands pensions and it is very tight most months so the thought of more finacial burdens from his dementia is very frightening to me.
I am trying to live in the moment so i can be there for Brian but some days i am just scared and i cannot talk to him as he just thinks he forgets the odd thing. It is just sad to watch the decline.

      Hi Jane,

      Glad you found caregiving.com.
It’s a world of resources and full of support.

My husband has Lewy Body Dementia. I understand your concerns for your future. We live on Hubby’s disability. But today is today and tomorrow is later.

I wish Hubby could talk to me too and yes it is sad to see the decline. I’m just trying to cherish all the moments I can while I can. That’s not to say I don’t have my bad moments too. I’m just choosing which ones I want to form and look back on.

      {{{hugs}}} for you. I understand.

Dealing with my husband’s progressing brain tumor is bad enough, but I just don’t know what to do with his family. I feel so invisible at times, bullied at others. Not sure if I want to hide in the closet or yell.

    Can anybody relate?

      Hi Caringlizi-

I am a caregiver to my mom who had a brain aneurysm two years ago. I can relate but the problem I have is with my family and her sisters. Everyone likes to put their 2cents in but not do anything to help. Caregiving.com has helped me a lot because everyone here is always ready to listen to you vent and give you great advice!

Yesterday was not so good, but today is better! Even though the weather is opposite of my mood, I just feel better able to cope today! :)

Caringlizi, I can relate! Although my problem is my own family! It’s just fine for me to give up my life for my caregiving, but say one thing they don’t like and you would think I had punched them in the shoulder and that that gives them a reason to pound on me. No one can see that doesn’t live the life – no one, no matter how much they may try to empathize!

All you can say to yourself, as I had to recently, is “I do this because I LOVE THEM”! I don’t do it for anyone else, just for them. :)
It helped me, I hope it can help you too!

My husband was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (cancer) in 2006. Since then he has had 2 stem cell transplants, and numerous infections, etc. Been like a roller coaster ride of emotions. I feel beat up and discouraged.
