We talk about this regularly: How hard it is to care for a spouse. There’s something natural about caring for someone who’s lived a long life. There’s something terribly unnatural about caring for someone who should still have a long life ahead.
On Wednesday, April 28, at 2:30 p.m. CT, Janet M. Cromer, RN, MA, LMHC, author of “Professor Cromer Learns to Read: A Couples New Life after Brain Injury” will be our guest on Your Caregiving Journey, our Internet talk show. Janet’s book chronicles the seven years following her husband’s cardiac arrest that led to a severe anoxic brain injury, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease. In her book, Janet discusses all the complex relationship issues inherent in chronic illness with honesty, and at times, with humor. Their marriage was transformed and redefined, but never defeated by catastrophic illness.
In preparation for Wednesday’s show, we’d love for spousal family caregivers to take our poll, below. And, if you have any questions or concerns you’d like Janet to address during the show, please send Denise an email.
