Hi Denise….

I’m a 63-year-old woman in Colorado. My 89-year-old mom–formerly very active and independent–had a stroke on Dec. 29th. After a month of hospitalization and rehab, she began living with me three weeks ago. She’s making progress, but the future is, understandably, unclear.

I wish I had had the opportunity to be part of this project from the beginning! What would be the best way for me to start in at this point? Any advice you have about that would be most appreciated.

I’d like more information. I’m involved in a project which could get quite large. A local church sponsored my “Caring for the Caregiver” program, 82 people showed up, and we have an ongoing “caring circle” which meets twice a month, with 6 participants. Last Wednesday, they told me how much they looked forward to our meetings! I was blown away!
We are planning several more programs in the Diocese of Long Island, and have applied to the Diocese for a grant. I’m fascinated by your survey, and the concept of structured ideas for caregivers is compelling.
