First I want to thank everyone for the kind comments on my last post. I’ve been really off the computer lately because of carpal tunnel. Tomorrow I go to see a wrist specialist and I want to set surgery for July. Enough pain!

Mum started talking again! Why, we don’t know, but she’s back speaking! It’s a relief!

She seems to be having another episode of erysipela. We’re giving her antibiotics, liquid, and her leg is no longer hot and just a pink colour, not bright red. We’re setting up an appointment at the angiologist for next week. Mum’s ankles are always swollen so I think part of the recurring erysipela is due to very bad circulation. Also her skin is paper thin and comes off. She had socks on because of the cold and rubbed one foot against the other and off came her skin, bleeding all over the place. Really horrible! She’s taking Cubitan again to help heal up. Her geriatrician said having paper-thin skin is one of the consequence of extreme old age.  There is no longer any fat under the skin.

My helpers are cheerful and friendly and right now want to find a Belladonna plant and make an infusion and bathe mum’s legs. It’ s a local remedy. I don’t know if should let them or not.

Hi Dilys, So glad you are back. (: It sounds like you have many doctors to manage for you mother. That is wonderful that she is talking again. I hope your surgery date comes quickly for you. It sounds like you are definitely ready. Thank you again for your post AND your example in how you continue to try and help your mother with each of these things.

Hi Dilys…nice seeing you back and am glad you posted ….
We missed you…..so sorry to hear about the pain in your wrist and hope the appointment tomorrow will give you encouraging news and you can get some sort of relief. Not to mention while you are in pain you are still taking care of all your moms medical needs..that must be so difficult.
How old did you say your mom was? My mom is 91 but I suppose thankfully so far her skin has not thinned out like your moms has…that must be terrible for her and talk of pain, that must hurt. I know you are doing everything possible for her. The things I have to look forward to mom perhaps getting….holy smokes!!..
feel better and let us know when your surgery will be…

Hi Dilys–I’ve been thinking of you! I, too, hope your pain ceases with a successful surgery in June.

That’s so interesting about your mom and talking. Is she able to tell you what she wants/needs?
