How Will You Embrace Your Limits?

Posted by

Yesterday, during our free webinar, Lasting Caregiving: Embrace Your Limits, we changed how we look at limits. Limits don’t take away. They make the way.

(Did you miss yesterday’s webinar? No worries; you can view and listen to the recording here.)

So, if you attended yesterday’s webinar, I would love to know: What’s different for you today? How will you apply what we discussed in your day and in your role? Please feel free to share in our comments section, below.

I have always thought of “limits” as being for someone else. Recently, this thought has been hovering and yesterday’s webinar was a wonderful reinforcement that I can, and should, have limits. And deserve them!

Denise made several points about “limits” and each helped me to redefine the word limit as it should be. I have often thought of limits as a weakness. Not so. Denise talked about limits as being our reality check, and NOT a poor reflection of ourselves. Also, when we set limits, we live life on our terms. That is a wonderful feeling particularly for a caregiver, that often shares their home.

Denise ended the webinar, by talking about what a new promise to our caree could be, she said: I am with you each step, the two of us are a great team and we will remain that way. This made me confident in that what I am doing will continue, whether I am going to need additional help or not.

I am grateful that I have opportunities like this to continue to build my confidence, as I face all the unknowns that caregiving brings. (:

…Another area that affected me with this webinar, is that I don’t have to apologize for my limits. They’re mine…

I too enjoyed the webinar. Limits are not a bad thing. It is just a fact. The more we recognize them as such the safer and more healthy we and our carees will be.

I liked the discusseion about dealing with disease progression also, as it certainly spoke to my sitaution with my husband. I expect this is true of a lot of caregivers.

I thought this webinar was great! I was thrilled it fit perfectly into my life so I could listen to it. Initially, I wasn’t sure it would apply to me, but it sure did! I will be applying limits on my time to not just caregiving, but volunteering as well. It’s sometimes easier to say “yes” than “no”, but not always a wise decision.

I liked the reminder not to take bad moments with you. I need to tattoo that onto my brain. I also loved that “Limits don’t take away, the make the way.”

The webinar was time well spent and very useful. I’m so glad I attended and am have already registered for the next one.
