This month’s happiness goal is save. This month I able going to resolve to try to save my sanity and energy. I am going to do this by continuing with having volunteers accompany us to Wayne’s physical training sessions on Wed. This way I will not have to stress over getting him into and out of the car safely. Since I ask my helpers to drive our car, I can also sit back and relax while we are in the car.

I also resolve to save my energy and strength by taking up my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s offer to come meet us at our house on Sunday mornings and help me get Wayne in and out of the car safely so that he can attend church. I further resolve to safe my energy and sanity by accepting any help that is offered me, if I find it beneficial and helpful to me in any way.

I intend to save myself a lot of emotional energy by doing what I think is right for my husband, Wayne, and not worry about other’s opinions. My husband’s tendency for extreme fatigue and need for an exorbitant amount of sleep is very high. I will honor that and not worry about what others think if we can not be every place we “should be.” I will consider other people’s advice when appropriate, but I will do what I think is best in the end.

Further, I will save my emotional sanity and energy by doing everything I can to get things in place for Wayne, so I can attend the concert series for which I have tickets. The first concert is at the end of September.

Finally, I will save my sanity and emotional energy by trying to make the difficulties of our situation less overwhelming by joking with Wayne and trying to make things more lighthearted.

I continue to feel very overwhelmed with the added responsibility of what combining two households brings.

Handling my mother’s bills, balancing her checkbook, following up on insurance concerns, and perscription coverage concerns, making sure her monies are being handled the most responsibly, etc. So…I have decided to take a class at a local University on: becoming and staying debt free. The class claims to be strictly educational with “no schemes” attached. (: I am hoping that this class will benefit us, and my mother (saving us unnecessary interest charges).

To save “my sanity” I am considering joining an ‘inside’ pool for the colder months. I need to have something like this to motivate me for the “hard to get out of bed” moments. My concern, is that I would not be able to ride if I do this…a bit of a trade off, so a little more thought with this “save” is yet to come. (:

Sharon, I am impressed and inspired by your Saves! I’ve thought about mine, which are relatively shallow in comparison, so I’ll keep flushing them out before I post them!

I’ve finally got a few things to write down.

First, I’m going to save myself future regrets by saving things we want to do for the future. The future of Steve’s brain and memories is uncertain with MCI. Steve’s off work now, so what better time to take care of things than now? Yesterday we went to the San Diego Zoo and as part of saving myself from future regrets, we took a tour. It was a total of seven people and we spent time with the zookeeper for the tigers and a female jaguar. And we didn’t have to wait in line for the pandas!

I want to save today by having an updated family portrait taken.

I will save time in the morning by unloading the dishwasher at night, a continuing issue!

I want to save as much of Steve’s brain as possible by exposing him to new experiences (the zoo), making sure I’m serving healthy food, and offering brain enriching opportunities.

I want to save time, at least 15 minutes a day, to read something I want to read.
