I got back from the town I was working in on Tuesday night and noticed mum’s chest was full. I bought Prelone for her to take and Clenil Compositum to put in the aerosol. She’s been doing aerosol 3 times a day, since Wednesday. She still has a full chest but it is very loose. After the aerosol, she coughs and up comes phlegm. It’s not greenish or stinky, which would mean infection. Nor does she have trouble breathing. Nor has she lost her appetite. We have begun doing the tapping on her back to loosen the phlegm. It’s hard to do because she doesn’t like us doing it, but it sure helps. I’m asking for prayer so she won’t have to take antibiotics and especially won’t have to go to the hospital and that what we are doing will really help and the phlegm will diminish. Thanks.

You are a disruptor. The delivery of health care starts with you, continues because of you, and ends with you. Let's disrupt together to make the world better for family caregivers.

Hi Dilys–Oh, gosh, no hospital! I also hope that she feels better ASAP. Please keep us posed. Hang in there…

Dilys,
Sometimes it seems like we just get on a reasonably even keel, then we have to deal with another crisis. the fact that she is breathing all right, hasn’t lost her appetite and that the phlegm does not indicate infection are all good signs. I have done the back tapping too. It’s a very worrisome situation, but it can get better. I think of you and your mother and Emily often (and your helpers, too). Every time I eat bread, I think of your comments about how your mother likes her bread, but has trouble chewing it.
I keep you in my prayers.
Meryl
Dilys, I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers and hope that she gets better.
Bette
Dilys,
You do such a wonderful job managing your mom’s medical needs. She is so fortunate to have you. Thank you for your example.
