Blue
Jan 3 2011 in Denise's Blog, Weekly Comforts by Denise
During the holidays, we can have blue days. The holidays end, which may cause us blue days for another reason. We hear sad news from friends (like Sharon) and then we really feel blue.
It’s okay to feel blue. It’s okay to tell family members and friends, “I’m feeling blue today.”
When feeling blue, wrap yourself in your familiar. Watch a movie in which you’ve memorized the beginning, middle and end. Read a well-loved book, wear a comforting article of clothing. Prepare a meal your mom used to make, enjoy a regular routine.
The familiar will help your blue become your yellow. And, the yellow will return. Soon, you will awake and feel hopeful and ready. The yellow will fit.

I agree Denise. I know when I am feeling blue I look for something that makes me laugh or smile. Just those few minutes of turning the frown upside down makes me feel better.

What timing! I was definitely feeling “blue” for a period yesterday afternoon. I was missing my parents so much. When I realized that if they were still living, but in AZ where they retired, I’d probably still be missing them terribly since they would have returned home after their Christmas visit, I actually felt better. Whew!
