Making Friends

I’m happy to report that Days 2, 3 and 4 of Program went just as well and Robert even had the van transport (to and from!). He told me after his first day that he had met an “Eric” who was very nice and polite.

On Day 2 Robert again told me he met an “Eric” in the van who also was nice and polite. I don’t know if there are two Erics or if, as Denise suggested, there is one Super Eric.

Either way it’s a win and Robert has a new friend (or two?).

Tomorrow is “Prom” at Program and Robert has his Sunday Best all laid out for him. I confirmed he would get a shower tonight so he would be smelling his best. He was happy that his bandage has been taken off his head (and I’m happy his laceration is healing properly).

I am so relieved that Robert is busy during the day and talking to people and making friends and having fun.

I would be lost without my friends and am grateful Robert is starting to have a few of his own.

I am also grateful to all my new friends from this site and want you all to know how much I appreciate you and care about you and what you are going through.

About Trish

I am Robert’s older sister and a freelance writer and am also a full-time Legal Administrator for a wonderful law firm (no, that is not an oxymoron). I am the caregiver for my youngest brother, Robert, who has suffered from uncontrolled epilepsy his entire life. In his late-40s now, he lives with me and my husband. I have somehow managed to navigate the maze of social services and government programs available to help Robert and continue to be amazed at the amount of time and persistence that is needed to do so. Robert finds happiness in simple pleasures like doing word search puzzles and watching his favorite shows (Family Feud and Jeopardy, of course!)

Oooo I’m excited about the Prom!!

Trish, I know that Roberts happiness and safety are utmost on your mind. It comes through wrapped in a heavy blanket of love.
Knowing he has friends and something to keep him occupied and happily active has to be a big weight off your shoulders.
Maybe with the brain relax you can beat Robert at a game or two of cards?
Nah, I didn’t really think so either ;-)

I’m very happy to have ‘met’ you!

    Hi Trish,
I’m so glad that Robert is enjoying his days at the Day Program. I can only imagine what a relief this is for you.

    You deserve that relief!

Maybe we do get occasional breaks from the worrying…(:
