Okay, well the neurologist and pharmacist have reached an agreement about Steve’s medications and have let us know of the medication changes. Steve is to go off his anti-depressant. When he is off of it for two weeks, he starts .5mg of azilect. The person I spoke to was unclear about what we’re supposed to do after two weeks on azilect. The person I spoke with earlier said that if Steve tolerates it well then I double the dose, and the person I spoke with today said, “Um, call us, I guess?” Actually, I liked that answer the best and told her that I’d be calling her in about a month.
I feel a little nervous about Steve going off the anti-depressant, but he’s fine with it, so I guess I shouldn’t worry. And at least this two week period should give me time to do a little more research on azilect. From the paperwork the pharmacist handed me, there are certain foods Steve shouldn’t eat while on the medicine. Should be interesting!
G-J, I am so glad you received some answers! You are a wonderful advocate, wife, and caregiver for your husband!
G-J, I can understand why you are a little hesitant to have Steve go off the anti-depressants (my husband has chronic back pain and is on loads of meds, including an antidepressant. Behavior changes do happen and can be a challenge but it’s necessary to get the meds right). I love how you bite off little chunks at a time. Starting him on a new med but it now buys you time to research it for a little bit. One of the things I admire about you is how you are so good at juggling so much — keeping so many balls in the air! Hope you and your family have a great weekend.
