About Denise Brown

Avatar of Denise
I began working with family caregivers in 1990 and launched CareGiving.com in 1996 to help and support them. Through my blog, I share words of comfort and offer coping strategies and tips. I also write opinion pieces about recent research, community programs and media coverage of caregiving issues.

  1. I know this is probably silly but getting Nicole out of bed in the morning is the hardest thing. She doesn’t like to get up. I wake her at 10:00 (if we don’t have co-op or a doctor’s appointment) and she takes her medicines and then she lays back down for a little bit as sometimes she doesn’t feel real good after she takes her medicines (which she takes all at one time). Then I have to get her started on school.

The hardest part for me is at night. If I have gone to work and then come home and take care of the house and Mikes needs without a break plus running the kids to work and picking them up. If he has one of his bad nights that means no rest for me, but he is worth it even though I pay for it the next few days trying to catch up on my rest while being super mom and wife.
