Rare Moments

The rare happy moments that no one else will understand are the best for me!

I think that as a caregiver we move through life in such a rush because we are always running around doing things for others that we don’t have time to enjoy the happy moments. Well today I propose that we all stop and just think of a rare moment you had recently that you really enjoyed. Today I was just having a crappy day and instead of dwelling on it I just decided to look through pictures and my attitude completely changed.

On Friday was my little sister’s 20th Birthday. I was not planning on doing anything just maybe taking her out to lunch, but my friends suggested I throw her a surprise birthday party (well, I couldnt keep it a surprise. :) I took the day off from work but ended up working harder. I ran around all day getting last minute things.

Usually I would complain about not getting help, but in this occasion I didn’t. Everyone had a great time, my mom was entertained with the guests all evening and didn’t even complain of a headache. My sister had a great time and it was nice to be able to catch up with friends who are always there for us.

Saturday and Sunday I mostly slept all day which was nice for a change. The bad thing is that today I was super exhausted–haha. Well, last night just before I put my mom to bed both my sister and I decided to play around and take pictures of her. Last night was a happy moment shared between the three of us, sister, Mom and I. Is really rare that we have those since we are very different people. It went from one picture to a small photo shoot. My sister took the picture while I stood on my mom’s bed holding up her zebra print blanket. My mom enjoyed every moment of it.

I posted the pictures on facebook and her sisters in California called immediately to tell her how beautiful she looked. She couldn’t fall asleep because she was excited and wanted to know every comment that my friends/family were writing on my page. Hopefully as time goes by there are more moments like these!
