You guys are so great! With everything you all have going on and then sending me support for the garage renovation for Robert, you’ve also asked about my Hubby’s mom (Carol).
A few weeks ago, her PET scan didn’t show any cancer but they didn’t rule it out completely. She saw a pulmonologist who recommended surgery to remove the fluid and scar tissue on her lungs or she’d have to be on oxygen her...
In August, our action word is Connect. Isn’t this a great word! Connecting can be about forming relationships. It also can be about connecting the meaning. This month, we can commit to do a bit of both.
For me, I’m going to connect:
1. How thoughts about my challenges make my challenges harder.
2. With other small business owners so I have access to help and resources.
3. My day’s choices with how...

I just had a thought that I wanted to share with all of you. In honor of caregiving.com’s 15th anniversary, I’d like to suggest that those of us who are able, spread the word about caregiving.com with 15 others. This can be done through twitter, e-mails, letters, phone calls, facebook, and any other creative ways you have. For example, I sent a few tweets with the message, “In your list of...

Fifteen years ago today, I sat in the corner of my bedroom in my parents’ house and bought the domain name, Caregiving.com. (You can read more about the story of Caregiving.com here .)
In honor of Caregiving.com’s 15th anniversary, I’m sending you 15 wishes:
1. I wish you love in your heart for your life, even when it seems this life can’t possibly be yours.
2. I wish you forgiveness in...

Denise, Happy Anniversary to you and caregiving.com! Without you, and the others here, life as a caregiver would be more difficult. Thank you for what you do and for all you give to help us be the best person as a caregiver and in all of our other roles. You are awesome!

I’m not sure why the universe feels the need to torture me with throwing so many things at me at the same time. I will try to keep this from being all over the place. I will do one section with Rick and one with Nicole.
Rick (my husband) wasn’t feeling well so he went to this clinic that some CVS drug stores have. As with most men Rick really has to feel bad in order for him to see a doctor. I...

This post may be all over the place as that is how my thoughts feel today.
I am hoping that getting them down in print would sort them so please bear with me.Hubby has been experiencing unexplained anxiety over the last few weeks.
I cant tell if this is related to his PTSD or his Lewy Body Dementia or perhaps a collision of both.
Anxiety that has caused him internal nervousness and fear. Fear he has actually...

Oh my, how I’ve battled and battled with having and adding help. Denise continues to be so patient and inspiring in my coaching sessions, guiding me to get the help that I need. And, she is able to see the needs before they come. (: I’m so grateful.
In thinking of adding help, I would continue to find excuses as to why it would not be convenient. Mainly, I hate (I don’t like this word,...

Many of you know I am not a fan of nonsensical rules whether it’s from New Home , our healthcare system or government agencies. I love simplicity and although creating both a bathroom and bedroom out of a garage isn’t completely simple, it seemed easily doable. After all, millions of garages must have been converted into living spaces over the years.
Apparently, not always with the proper permit.
Okay,...

I took the Boundaries class in the second session of Summer classes with Denise. Wow, it was great and really helped me a lot. I spoke about my battle with Nicole about her being a night owl and trying to get her to bed earlier and most specifically being firm with the rules for getting off the computer.
Nicole has a curfew of getting off the computer of 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday as these are school...

Today was Paul’s 8th out of 10 radiation treatments; he’s pretty low just now. Saturday turned out to be a pretty good day where he was a bit more positive than he had been. Sunday he crashed when he got home about 3:30 p.m. after managing a fairly full workday. Today was dreadful, and we’re not looking forward to the next couple of days except for the fact that he’ll be done with...
