Quick Update on MIL

Posted by

You guys are so great!  With everything you all have going on and then sending me support for the garage renovation for Robert, you’ve also asked about my Hubby’s mom (Carol).

A few weeks ago, her PET scan didn’t show any cancer but they didn’t rule it out completely.  She saw a pulmonologist who recommended surgery to remove the fluid and scar tissue on her lungs or she’d have to be on oxygen her entire life (which seemed fine to me if the surgery was going to be too risky or painful but Carol wanted to plow through and do it).

He also found a suspicious node in that general area which he said could still mean cancer.  Ugh.

I’m happy, thrilled, ecstatic to report Carol came through the surgery yesterday beautifully!  (Sorry I didn’t tell you about it beforehand; with work and Robert’s stuff – there’s not enough time in the day!).

The node was not cancerous (they’re still sending it to the lab to check for other things but it’s not lung cancer).  They inserted a tube to drain the fluid and did a bit of scraping of the scar tissue stuff so the lung can reinflate (which it appears to be doing).

She’s in some pain (and will be for a while) but they have her on some good pain meds right now so she’s managing well.

That, and she’s one tough cookie.  :-)

We have something very special here on this site and I appreciate each and everyone of you!

    WONDERFUL NEWS!!!

I know this takes some of the mind and heart pressure off you. Keeping MIL comfortable may seem like a walk in the park after that scare.
Please do keep us posted on her recovery.

Wishing you all a wonderful day :)

    Hi Trish:

What wonderful news. I wish Carol a speedy recovery. I hope that whatever the problem with the node it will be able to be corrected.

    Hugs:o)

    Hi Trish,

This is wonderful news – I’m so happy for each of you. Your mother-in-law does sound very strong and I hope all goes smoothly during her recovery.

You continue to amaze me in how you manage each challenge and concern that comes your way.

You take each one…and move through it. Thank you for sharing Carol and Robert with us.
