It’s One of Those Days….

Nicole’s breathing treatment schedule was all out of whack yesterday because we were gone between rehab and her cardiology appointment and I don’t like taking it with us especially if I will have to leave it in the car so I decided not to take it which meant if she was going to get her four doses in she would take her last one at 12:30 a.m. instead of 9:30 p.m. I have to dump out the water and throw away the medicine and wash the parts each night and let air dry over night. I have two machines so I told Nicole just to set it on the counter and I had extra parts that I would use. I got up at my normal time and went to get her medicine ready and didn’t see the machine on the counter and thought “why doesn’t she ever do what I tell her?” and come to find out she had washed the parts and dumped the water. She had also reset the alarm for her medicine at 10:15 a.m. It was so nice… I made a point of really letting her know how much I appreciated it.

I then had to take a Medical Terminology exam and I have learned that if I don’t do it super early in the morning 5:15 am. that I will have too many interruptions. I got a 100 on it. That was great considering I didn’t do as well as I wanted on the last exam.

I had to call Social Security regarding the letter I received and while she will not have “benefits” for March she will not lose her Medicaid. I guess as long as there will be only a 30-day lapse in coverage the Medicaid isn’t lost. This made my day… I repeated it twice to her to confirm. While I was on this call the door bell rang. When I walked out back so I could hear/talk to the lady because the dogs were barking I saw Fed Ex leaving. I had gotten the copy of The Caregiving Years I had ordered. I also participate in surveys and they sent me a free product … woohoo…

I was happy with the time and effort I was able to spend with Nicole on her school day. After lunch the door bell rang again and it was the mailman who left a big box on the porch. In the box was the Beat the Blahs basket I won from the talk show. It is beautiful as you can see from the picture. It was full with a Caregiving.com bracelet, coffee cup and hot cocoa, a fitness ball, u-build Sorry (this is going to be fun to play), a stamp with a J on it and I believe a notepad with the letter J as well as some Flipz (these I will give to my friend’s daughter as we are not pretzel people), a little basket (I will recycle to keep paper clips in it) with some orange/spice body wash and lotion with a candle … they smell awesome and some silly putty… can you guess who took that? Nicole was playing with it and this is what she created with it.

I got a sweet email with a beautiful butterfly from one of the fellow bloggers on the site that brought me to tears and she knows who she is. One of my friends who lives in PA and comes down a few times a year and stays at her mom’s house (it is really hers since her mom who was a dear friend passed away) called me and invited me over for tea and gave me a sweet gift of some wonderful smelling soap (think maybe somebody is trying to tell me something :) ).

It was just an all around great day… I keep saying …. good things are going to happen but I guess I’m a little gun shy as every time I have good things happen a bunch of bad things follow. So I’m a little paranoid. The only good thing I didn’t get was some money :) .

    Hi Jane,
I’m so glad you had such a special day. I understand about sometimes wondering what might be around the corner…but I’m glad all your corners were filled with smiles (:

That is wonderful about Nicole – what a help to you.

Thank you for sharing your day with us and reminding me to focus on the good in the day – and to try and leave it at just that…

Hoping for a nice day tomorrow – you so deserve it!

Yeah! for “One of those days..” It’s nice when you can say that it was a good one…instead of something else. You deserved every bit of it! :-)

    Hugs!!!

What a wonderful day! You deserved a day like that, Jane. Tell Nicole how impressed I am with that rose – I could barely make a round ball with silly putty much less something that pretty! :-)
