Sixty and the Slippery Slope

Posted by

Yesterday was my 60th Birthday. The day opened with a phone call from a friend who is Danish; she sang a Danish happy birthday song to me in Danish which was lovely. She then told me that they call decade-entry birthdays “round” birthdays, which I like because one can think of it as not being the actual number.

On my last round birthday, I met Paul. On this round birthday, we had our first visit from Hospice and completed all the intake procedures. This is the roundest decade of my life, from bliss to utter devastation.

I really can’t say more at this moment but thought I should at least inform you of this milestone.

Please pray for Paul’s comfort and my strength; at least I know you all know what I mean.

Jennifer, you and Paul have been in my thoughts (and Cameron, too – every time I go to the Met in HD, I picture him on the stage)and I will continue to pray for you all.
