Happiness Project: March
Mar 2 2012 in Caregiving Happiness Project, Denise's Blog by Denise
In March, our action word is Read.
We’ve got a longer month in March; why not spend it reading? And, you’ve been removing and organizing in January and February, so you’ve earned time to curl up with a good book. A great book is the cheapest trip you can take. For me, I’m going to read:
1. A book a week (my fingers are crossed for this one).
Please share your action plan for March in our comments section, below.
(Would you like to join our Happiness Project, now in its second year? We’d love to have you! Just go here to join.)

I would love some recommendations for good books. It has been a long time since I have read a book that “I couldn’t put down”.
Anyone have some good books to share?

What kind of books do you like, Jane? I enjoy mysteries, so I could recommend some of those, but I’m not sure what you like.

Jane, you might like Compassionate Caregiving: Practical Help and Spiritual Encouragement by Lois Knutson. It’s really a wonderful guide, an easy read, loaded with great encouragement and inspiration… plus scriptures and prayers to help get you through any situation.
I downloaded a Kindle version to my phone and it’s great to have handy whenever I have a free moment… like in doctors’ waiting rooms, etc.

For just plain feel-good reading, Jane, try Fannie Flagg’s two Elmwood Springs books:”Standing in the Rainbow,” and “Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven.” They’re older and can be gotten from the library. They’re also on CD audiobooks – my favorite way to read them, because of Flagg’s great storytelling.
I will be re-reading “A Thousand Splendid Suns” for my book group and a couple of books on the neurology of Alzheimer’s. Also the 4th volume of Alexander McCall Smith’s 44 Scotland Street series. Catching up on old New Yorkers. That’s about it for this month.

I will read one book, and if I’m lucky two.
I will continue to read the newspaper on a daily basis.
I will read a few more magazines before I recycle them.
