You Are the Source of the Happiness

This morning, Elizabeth Lombardo, author of “A Happy You: Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness,” joined me for our monthly chat about happiness. You can listen to our show via the player below.

Our discussion focused on this question: How do we find the source of our happiness? We had a great discussion about how too much stress works against us. Specifically, Elizabeth explained, when we are too stressed, we can’t think rationally. This is soo good to know because I think it explains so much! We all have times when the stress caused us to do something (or say something) we later regretted. I’ve often asked myself, “What in the world was I thinking?” Well, now I know: I wasn’t thinking! I was too stressed.

We spoke about ways to combat your stress, like taking a break, sleeping and journaling. Once we cope with our stress, we can find moments of happiness in our day. And, the source of that happiness, Elizabeth said, is applying our strengths and values.

In essence, when we do what we are naturally good at doing, we are happy.

How about that!
