A Family Caregiver’s Must Have Assistant

Site of the Week: CareSimply.com

(Editor’s Note: On a regular basis, we run a sponsored section called Site of the Week. We thank CareSimply.com for its generous support of Caregiving.com.)

You organize, provide, oversee, motivate, lead, delegate. In caregiving, you are the chief executive officer. And, every great CEO needs a trusted and reliable assistant. It’s even better when the assistant doesn’t need a corner office.

CareSimply.com acts as your assistant in hiring, scheduling, and paying professional caregivers you hire privately to care for your loved one.

You know the dilemma: You like the convenience of using a home health agency. You also like the affordability and flexibility of hiring your own caregivers. It’s frustrating that you can’t have both. Except with CareSimply you can.

Here’s how CareSimply works:

  • Find Reliable Caregivers – CareSimply takes the guesswork out of hiring your own caregivers; the company has already screened and conducted background checks on all caregivers.  Each caregiver has an in-depth profile complete with education, experience, certifications, references, etc.  All of which have been verified by CareSimply.
  • Hire the Perfect Match – After finding caregivers that may meet your needs, you can use the site’s messaging portal to conduct interviews on the phone, through video or in person. You also can read reviews from past clients of the caregiver, which can help you during the decision-making process.
  • Manage the Ongoing Care – Through CareSimply, you hire professional caregivers privately and let them handle the logistics, including contracts, time sheets, payroll, taxes and insurance. After you hire a caregiver, the site helps you prepare a contract, with care instructions, between you and the professional caregiver so he or she arrives ready to work. You can schedule the caregiver through CareSimply, which means you don’t have to rely on a stack of sticky notes on your desk calendar to keep track of the schedule.

When you search for caregivers on CareSimply, you’ll see an hourly fee displayed on each caregiver’s profile. That fee includes your total costs–the caregiver’s hourly rate, CareSimply’s service fee, insurance, taxes and all other fees. CareSimply estimates that you’ll pay as much as 50% less using its services than you do when hiring through a traditional home care agency. CareSimply takes safety seriously so if you hire a caregiver through their site you’ll also be insured for bodily injury, property damage and theft.

And, you set the criteria for the number of hours of help you want; you don’t have to worry about minimum time commitments. Need a caregiver for just an hour? Simply search for available caregivers in your area who can work when you need them.

CareSimply also helps you oversee the care provided; the caregivers use a mobile app to track their hours and provide a summary to you of the care they provided. You also pay the caregiver through the CareSimply website.

CareSimply was founded by Matthew Larson and Anthony Wijnen, who were inspired to create their company by their own experiences helping to care for grandparents.

You have got to be kidding. Anyone who would rely on a website that is simply Craig’s List on steroids is an idiot. Would you leave your newborn with a person you found on the internet without doing your own due diligence. They imply that the service protects you. Bull.

John, we started CareSimply to give people better resources and tools so you could do your own due diligence. Having an online caregiver profile with customer reviews makes things a lot more transparent and reliable. We do our part to screen and conduct background checks for caregivers, but the final decision rests with the family. That’s why we provide interview guides and encourage our users to really get to know the caregiver before they hire.

Thanks for the article Denise. We hope to be a useful service to people in need.
