Nicole’s Treatment (Videos)
Aug 9 2012 in Jane's Blog by Jane
Here are two video’s that I took on July 25th at the doctor’s office when Nicole started her new medicine. The first one, Part I, is Nicole actually putting the site in. She shoots herself with the plastic tube thing (don’t remember the name) and that drives the needle enclosed catheter into her skin and when she pulls out the needle comes too and only the catheter remains.
The second video, Part II, is her finishing the process. There was a gap in the process as she had to switch oxygen cannula’s from her portable when her tank ran out that the doctor provided while we waited for another tank and she had to have her BP checked. It shows her programing the pump to start the medication process.
I am so proud of Nicole for taking charge and doing this herself.

Hi Jane,
Wow. I love that Nicole did not hesitate to step right up, without hesitation, to something that helps her, but is so so new. It must have been so hard for you Jane to learn and to watch.
You both did such a wonderful job. Thank you so much for sharing the videos.
Thinking of you both.

Bette’s right–Nicole is fearless. !! Doesn’t bat an eye. You’ve done good, Jane.

Fearless is the perfect word. Jane, you and Nicole are awesome and fierce! Honestly, when I was not much younger than Nicole is now, my mother taught me how to give her an insulin injection. I nearly passed out when I watched her inject an orange!
Nicole is a terrific role model in these videos to any and all kids who in some way have to deal with needles and medical equipment. Brava!
