Our Family ~ A Summary ~
Jan 23 2013 in Caring for Children by Kristen
Here is a quick summary of my family:
We have dad, myself (the mom), Hannah, Sam and Carrie.
Dad and myself are parents to three children. I am the main caregiver for Carrie, our youngest. Hannah is 13. She has left hemiplegia and, six months ago, we learned she is gluten-intolerant. Once we removed gluten from her diet, she has become a beautiful, growing and healthy teenager.
Sam is our “typical” kid, age 10 and probably the most compassionate man you will ever meet.
Carrie is 7 and has mitochondrial disease, meaning for her that she has developmental delays, uses a walker and wheelchair, communicates with behavior, sounds and a few hand signs, and is 100% tube fed. She is generally a happy girl and is a pleasure to have as part of our family, even if I have to remind myself this fact at 4 a.m. in the morning when she likes to wake up.
I think we have a great family and I am proud of each one of us. For me, the quote about, “The days are long but the years go by fast,” is so so true! Many days are long and tiring but I can’t believe how old my kids are all ready. You can read more about individual kids in my earlier posts.

Oh, Kristen,
What a beautiful family! I too enjoyed the photo and a synopsis of where you are at with them. I wish we all did that since I am so new to the site you all are still a growing family with me! Where is your hubby though? Maybe next time he too can grace the photo?
