Our Virtual Ride Begins Today

Join our virtual ride!We begin our journey today.

Our Community Caregiving vRide is about getting fit, staying motivated and making virtual visits to other family caregivers. Our first visit will be to Jane; Chris and ejourneys, who both will be riding stationary bikes, will map our route and determine when we’ll arrive at Jane’s home. When we arrive, we’ll enjoy a video chat (more details to follow).

How, you probably think, can I participate in something that seems to require lots of time and time out of the house? This is the beauty of the VRide; you create a work-out plan (walk, jog, bike ride, walk up and down your stairs) in your house and follow along our journey. It doesn’t matter what you do–it only matters that you join with us every day to enjoy a physical activity. And, together, we’re moving to visit a family caregiver.

Want to join us? Great! Just start moving and post your daily activity in our VRide group. We’ll add events to our group’s calendar when we know the dates of a virtual stop and a caregiving visit. You can blog about your VRide here, too. (To join our group and blog, you must be a member of Caregiving.com. It’s easy and free to join; just go here.)

And, be sure to read ejourneys’ entries in our VRide blog. She’ll keep us posted on our progress and send postcards to us along the way.

Want us to visit you? Great! You can send a private message through the site to myself or Chris or ejourneys.

Have fun!

Such a great idea! I’ve been wearing a step counter thingy (yes, that’s the technical term) and have been more aware of how much I’m walking. I’ve taken up running/walking with my daughter a few mornings and plan to increase that amount more and more. @kreisler and I are also considering turning part of our garage into an exercise room. So far it’s not a huge increase for me in steps but it’s something. I’m looking forward to seeing Chris and @ejourneys progress. We’re cheering for you!!

I am gearing up and ready to start out the gate in the morning…As caregivers we all unite in the care of our caree, now we can unite in a way to help us with our own personal health!

    Hi friends,
I cannot thank you all enough for starting this program. The VRide! I love it! I wish everyone were on it too! (Maybe high hopes??? :) ) Anyhooo? I finally feel motivated enough to lose some weight. ( I am “morbidly obese” as my primary says. She will be thrilled!) Thank you so much!
