To be honest, this past week has been a long one. I came back from a week off work to find my desk buried, Mike developed cellulitis, my uncle decided to go septic, and it’s been hotter than ever. I’ve been tired, cranky from the heat, and stressed out. On Friday night, I ran around trying to find my cell phone, even running out to my car in my nightgown, only to find it was sitting right beside the purse I had dumped upside down in my efforts to find the phone. Did I mention I was tired?
With Mike and my uncle both on the mend I decided I needed to mend myself and recharge my emotional batteries. On Saturday I decided to take in the farmer’s market and it was the best decision I could have made. The sun was shining, I found a parking spot fairly close (it was even shaded), and the atmosphere was what I needed. I treated myself to a fresh, non-commerically made, polish sausage on a bun with sauerkraut for breakfast and washed it down with a smoothy. I was able to find the juiciest peaches which became a lunchtime snack as well as corn that went with the bbq chicken for supper. Along with the food, I found my piece of mind. I didn’t have to be anywhere in particular and no one needed me. I made the effort to continue this when I got home and hung out on the deck with a bowl of sliced peaches, a fresh pretzel and a newspaper. I even found the time to do The NY Times crossword. I should do this again next week.
