*TMI ALERT**TMI ALERT*

warning_pn.svg*ALERT* BE ADVISED*

This will be WAY TMI unless you are a caregiver or have interest
in caregiving and desire to learn more.

Don’t say I didn’t give
you fair warning.

You can turn back now and nobody will feel harshly towards you about it.

Last chance!

Ok, I warned you,

Impaction.

Lewy Body comes with a constipation issue. Even though we have tried numerous relieving techniques the fact remains I can’t force my loved one to take them on a daily basis and I won’t change his diet to the extreme which will make him frustrated and angry more than he already is. Thus I supply him his desire for whatever he wants, specifically candy and the consequences that come with it.

So.

We both learned a hard lesson on impaction.

We finally dug around until a solution was found and it all worked out in the end.

We’ll know better next time, I hope.

Nuff said.

About Kathy

I'm a 51 yr old, full time 24/7, Spousal Caregiver/Guardian. My 76 year old husband, of 31 year, was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia Oct of 2007. Lewy Body Dementia is the second most common form of dementia although often misdiagnosed as it has many of many of the characteristics of Parkinsons and Alzheimers. Besides caring for Hubby I also have the privilege of sharing care for my 65 yr old Brother in Law (Hubby's Brother) who has Downs Syndrome. I get him for the fun months of Sept thru Dec :) Our lives are certainly an adventure and we try to enjoy as much of it as we can :)My Motto is: Never lose your sense of humor!

Awww Kathy, you did warn us didn’t you? I pray daily that I will never face that particular problem. You have also given me an improved attitude toward issues of the somewhat opposite sort from efforts to avoid such issues with my mother. The side effect of the huge daily narcotic dosage she is on is exactly that… constipation and all its wonderful aspects. What fun to be a caregiver! Richard has nominated 2014 as the Year of the Caregiver – we need to rally around his efforts!

Kathy, You did warn us! Yet, apparently not much fazes me any more because I continued reading – while eating. :-) So happy things worked out in the end. LOL!

    Kathy,

LOL! I had that same honor! We eventually found creative things to enter into his diet that would help things flow a bit better. What made things really funny though was when they would complain in the hospital about his program and he’ld turn around and tell them that he eats worse at the hospital then he does at home! And we weren’t talking about taste! Hoping for smooth flowing days ahead!

Not only did your warning not discourage me; I couldn’t wait to go to your blog link from FB! Hope all is better today.

    Hi,

I have to admit: I love the drama of this post. “Impaction.” It should be a movie. :)

I, too, hope today is better for both of you.
