It seems like here in nearby Chicago the snow will never stop falling. The meteorologists predict more than a foot of winter white stuff! Mom and I are cooped up in our little house; it’s a sorta weird feeling. Twice now Mom has walked with her walker to the front door to see all the snow-driven beauty.
Yesterday our CNA came. She was very late and we were very concerned about her safety but she arrived. We told her that if the snowfall is as bad for driving today as it was on New Year’s Day to call in the office and they will phone us that she can’t make it. We will miss her sorely but that has to be. You cannot afford to drive in not plowed streets. She said her husband drove her and they saw three very bad accidents coming here yesterday.
It was almost fun having the three of us alone here in our home together. As long as nothing serious happens. We watched the Rose Bowl Parade – Mom’s and my annual favorite (we’ve had tickets to and been there one year!). Nelly made some crescent rolls all warm and hot. MMMmmm!!!!
I, who adore college football, did not even watch one game. I couldn’t believe it either!
We had taped the New Year’s Celebration’s New York City’s Philharmonic play Ravel so our CNA and Mom and I watched that recording while eating lunch. That was fun because our CNA is musically inclined and explained a whole lot about the classical and modern music which was being played.
I am hoping Mom and I can get an appointment on Friday with our PCP to check up on our colds or whatever they are. Just so Mom doesn’t get pneumonia and get really sick! She and I seem sorta better.
But today January 2, 2014 seems like a better day than the past holiday weeks. Calmer. Quieter. Maybe even negotiable. We’ll see.
Only time will tell … and heal in the end!
