To Your Caregiving Situations

Throughout Your Caregiving Years

(Each month, we take a closer look at an aspect of your caregiving experience. In January, we offer ways to simplify.)

Simplify, eliminate, delegate

In this month’s Special Focus, we offer ideas about simplifying your life. We offer ideas that can help with hands-on care, with organizing your day, with communicating effectively. And, we take a closer look at the word “No” and how its use can help you prioritize and reassess situations.

Simplifying your life means making changes—and change is always hard. As you work toward creating a healthier lifestyle, consider who can mentor you through the changes. A mentor can be anyone--a family member, a friend, a fellow caregiver, even someone you don't know--an author, a talk show host, a musician. A mentor keeps your path straight. A mentor doesn't clear your path (that's our role, clearing the path of our mistakes gives us the knowledge to move forward) but helps you stay on the path that right's for you.

And, who knows where the right path will lead?
