Let’s Get Organizing
Public Group active 3 days, 14 hours agoMy goal for 2013 is to get my house decluttered and to get organized especially with Nicole’s medical issues and all other areas of my house and life so I can have more peace, be more productive and have peace when I walk into my house instead of feeling chaos.
If you want to get organized or are naturally organized then this is the group for you. I hope that we can share ideas and help each other on this journey.

I apologize that I haven’t been in her for over a week. I have continued to work on medical organizing every day but Sunday. On Sunday’s when I plan my week (or try) I need to write down what I want to accomplish this week with medical organizing because I woke on Monday I think and thought … oh no… what am I going to do today and then I…[Read more]

May 7th I continued my medical organizing by catching up on notes. I didn’t get any real decluttering done as we were gone for the majority of the day. I did clean out a drawer in my desk by taking all the papers out and putting them into a basket so I can go through them and file etc. and took all the spiral notebooks that was in the basket…[Read more]

Over the years I’ve been through several office management workshops or organization workshops and everyone ice been to, any book/web site I’ve read regarding organization they all say one thing, when your mail comes in or stock, or any other form of paperwork you should only touch it once to get it into its designated place. Another little tid…[Read more]

I LIKE IT! Now if only we had shredding companies locally. Guess that’s the price I pay for living in a town with a population of 156 people. The idea of touching mail once is great. I’m that way regarding bills. I keep stamps, envelopes, return address stamp and checkbook ready to go so they can get sent out the same day they come in,…[Read more]

Not to mention the time it takes to drive to the post office to get stamps or the time spent standing in line.

Yesterday on May 5th I spent 30 minutes in the living room doing a little area. Rick says it looks messier. I am trying to be really conscious that I am just not moving stuff to a different section so I can deal with it later. I think it looks good. I will have a routine of working for 30 minutes in there on Sunday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and…[Read more]

Creating a goal such as spending 30 minutes three times a week is a great starting point, but I can’t help wondering if you’re not dragging things out? I spend more than 30 minutes a day just keeping things picked up. That doesn’t include actual cleaning such as dusting, scrubbing toilets/sinks, and hitting the mirrors with Windex. Short…[Read more]

May 3rd:
Okay, I did medical organizing this morning by updating Nicole’s medication list. I did it in Excel. I have printed but haven’t walked into the computer room to pick it up from the printer.
My goals for today are this:
1. Call O2 company
2. Ridgely’s tank (this was on list yesterday but was raining and Nicole needs to take…[Read more] -

The more I look at our old office/ garage, I say old office due to we added a wall in it to block off a portion several years ago to make an office for me, when kids were still in the the house and every bedroom was taken. Since they’ve moved out Trish and I have each taken over a room and made them our offices. I have a fold out sofa sleeper in…[Read more]

I want to be just like you with organization… I am heading there but haven’t arrived. What do you have in your hospital to go bag? I have this on my to-do list but I’m not sure. I know there’s a list on the site and I found it once and printed out the list but wouldn’t you know I don’t know where it is…. ha…..
Hugs:o)
Jane-
Jane thank you for your kind comments. My hospital bag has or would have the following, depending on if you have children::
(1) Backed up USB drive with my caree’s medical history. At least past year or further if there’s and ongoing issue.
(1) 2 Days worth of clean cloths
(1-2) Days worth of toiletries
(2-3) Days worth of my…[Read more]

Your list is priceless. How about US adding a couple more things to it?
1: Have your finances set up so your world won’t fall apart just in case you can’t write out the monthly bills? The way I solved this was by using auto pay on everything from the utility bill to credit cards. It’s better to pay the minimum on a credit card than it is…[Read more]

I love the way you guys are using containers to better organize your life. In the cupboards above the credenza each box holds only certain items such as assorted cards, tech plugs/accessories/portable hard drives, & eye glasses. In my desk is a slide out tray. With some square dishes (used for dip/sauces) I’ve got paperclips & tape. In my…[Read more]

Great organization. I wish my desk and drawers looked like that…. NOT… I strive for this but so far it doesn’t happen.

Don’t worry Jane, you’ll get there but next time think about all the hard work you’re doing right now before you accidentally start tossing to and fro in whatever spot you can find for the moment. Your time is worth money. Anytime you’re correcting easy to collect clutter could be better spent doing things you REALLY enjoy. Keeping things…[Read more]

Yesterday, was a wash out day and I didn’t do decluttering/medical organizing etc.
So far today, May 2nd., I redid the master for the monthly checklist. All that is left for me to do is make copies. I will declutter the shelf in the spare room/office by reorganizing. I am attaching a photo of what it looks like now.
I also have my three…[Read more]

It has been a couple of days since I been here. I remember doing medical organizing on the 30th and I was finishing up the monthly checklist that I do.
I don’t think I did any decluttering on Tuesday except for trying to get my coupon clutter in order.

Today is April 29th. I did my medical organizing by completing my monthly checklist that I do based on Nicole’s daily logs for the month of April. I believe that tomorrow I will start by redoing my master of this to group the A.M fatal signs and then all the P.M. which I don’t have now it is all screwed up. Will start this tomorrow.
As far…[Read more]

OK, finally finished organizing my office since work (Notary) has slowed down its given me more time to focus on it. Now if anyone is interested and I will give you time to get a flight scheduled, I need to work on our old office/garage. This was going to be Roberts room until the cost to convert it went from $10,000 up to $35,000+ due to city,…[Read more]

Good for you Richard on getting your office organized. You should post a picture of it. Also, post before and after pictures of the garage. I need to start with the living room as well as continue to get my office area which I just moved from computer room with Nicole to spare room in order.
My living room looked like someone threw up or a…[Read more]

Great visuals on the last part, thanks. So does this mean your not flying out to help? It will take me a “Looooooooong” time to get the old office/garage organized. You’re heart is made of gold – well at least that’s amount you’re spending as you help others with their stuff while you put your greatly needed remodeling project on hold. The cost for your new office blew my socks off! Please tell me that for this kind of money you’re installing Italian marble. The costs for inspections and permits is…[Read more]

If there’s anything we learn as a caregiver or as the disabled one, it’s the value in maintaining control over our lives. This includes our escape away from reality otherwise known as our home. The more time we spending avoiding clutter, the more time we’ve got enjoying the things we could have been doing if only we hadn’t misplaced this or…[Read more]

On Sunday we took apart the bunk bed that Nicole use to use that was in the spare room and put it on Craigslists to sell (which we did on Monday) and took the other twin bed (Nicole had two twin beds in her room) and moved it into the spare room. I spend a lot of time in the spare room and do sleep in there also a lot because if there’s an…[Read more]

I forgot to say the first picture is of the closet. The bottom part under the last shelve is open space where i have to two – three drawer organizing boxes where I keep Nicole’s medical supplies.

Next time I will stand where I was taking a picture of the foyer and face the other way so you can see the other bookcase and the corner that is neater.
I’m darn proud of you. It takes that 30 minutes each and every day. Why not kick it up to 45? Hitting this kind of project is all about time management just as much as it’s about managing stuff. I couldn’t be more delighted over the headway you’re making. As you’re de-cluttering your life, make sure you organize things in a way that…[Read more]
