I know I’m a little late, but the thought I struggle to break of is “I have to…” For a while I had grown to hate Mondays because I would always start out the week with a list of things I needed to do, hoping to make a big dent on Monday. Then something would [...]

Hi Jane, I know your pain. With a few changes in details, I am going through the same things you are: deep financial problems, loss of insurance, progressive disease, frustration that no one else seems to be taking it seriously, government agencies with lots of ridiculous paperwork, stupid rules, and mis-steps that couldn’t care less. [...]

Hi Jane, Frist, no, don’t shut up. It is good that you are writing and venting here. Even though I haven’t had the time to comment, I have been following what and evenone else has been writing. I really feel for you and what you are going through. I’ve been there recently myself. My wife [...]

Thank you Natalie for such a wonderful reminder that the pain of loss is only temporary. My wife and I went through a major “pruning” over the past year, and I can start to see some wonderful and amazing things starting to grow back.

Chet Bailey wrote a new blog post: Refresherating 1 year, 9 months ago

That is what Debi’s paid caregiver’s grandson said we were doing on Friday. Friday we decided to take a short trip to the county fair. We were interested in the home-made goods. We had thought about entering some things, but decided we would check it out this year and maybe enter something next year. We [...]

Liliana, Thank you for sharing your frustration. Everyone else has given some great advice. Please find someone to talk to, tell your family that the way they are acting is unacceptable, and take time for yourself. Your life is too precious! I am praying for you and your family! Please let us know how you [...]

Hi Liliana – I completely understand how much having some extra money can relieve a lot of stress. But make sure you make time for your friends. When I was in high school and college I also worked fulltime, but I also made time for hanging out with my friends. Learning to find time to [...]

Chet Bailey commented on the blog post When Was Your Last Day Off? 1 year, 9 months ago

Wow, what a good question. A day off along with a good nights sleep have long gone the way of the Easter Bunny. Something I vaguely remember believing in. :-) Seriously, it has been at least 8 years since I have truly had a day off (and that was a business trip). I take breaks [...]

Hi Bette, I am so sorry for all the difficulty you and your mother are having. I personally find dealing with the unexpected downturns to be one of the hardest parts of caregiving. I am glad you were able to open up and that your son was able to help take some of the emotional [...]

Chet Bailey commented on the blog post Do You Ever Feel Like… ? 1 year, 10 months ago

YES!! I agree, lately I’ve been feeling like all I do is restart over again (yes, that is intentionally redundant.) I think I have a feel for what I need to do, get started. Then blam, I get plowed over by some new situation.
