After weeks of struggling with the decision of what to do with our very sick 13-year-old cat, Mary Jane, we decided to have her put to sleep a week ago. This proved to be more difficult than I could ever imagine. […]
Bette,
Thank you for your comments. I feel lucky to be in the situation I am in at this time, but I also know that her dementia can and probably will get a lot worse. That’s when I will really be seeking support […]
Thank you Denise! I am truly blessed to have the mother that I do and thinking back to all the things she has done for me and with me makes this process easier for me to deal with. Taking care of her is the least […]
Your words “meet her on her new level” really hit home with me! It reminds me that it is the disease I am dealing with, not my mother. She has always been a loving, kind, generous person in her entire life and I […]
Thank you Karen! I know there will be tough days ahead as she gets more lost in this disease, but for right now, right this minute, I am blessed to still have the strong relationship I have with her.
Thanks Kristin! I feel very blessed to be able to take care of my mom. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all roses all the time, but reading the blogs and comments help give me strength to continue another […]

Thank you all for your comments and welcoming me to the group! I feel blessed to have found this site, by accident, and have been thankful ever since!

I can totally relate to the “lonely” part. Maybe it’s because I’m still new to the game of care giving, but I feel like I am in a world all by myself with no one who understands or wants to understand the […]
