Denise – thank you for taking the time to visit us in Northern VA. Thankfully, the weather was sunny – no earthquakes, tropical storms, or tornadoes during your visit. ;) Looking forward to learning more from the blogs you spoke of today, and continuing down this journey of caring for my mom during this phase of her life’s journey. About Me

I am my mother’s caregiver/care partner. She has lived with us (my spouse, me, and our dogs) for 1 year. Her heart health is returning to normal, but her memory health continues to degrade.
Hubby and I work outside of the home, so Mom is home alone 3 days a week with our 3 English Springer Spaniels.
I’ve always had a love for fast cars, thanks to my three older brothers; thankfully, I finally have a man in my life who shares that love. And, he has introduced me to the love for the open road via a two-wheeled motorized vehicle. Again, that love was instilled by my brothers, but it took the right man in my own personal life for me to discover that. I do love to read, but my eyes get tired very easily, thanks to a job that requires me to work at a computer for 9+ hours a day.

My Top Three Concerns

- how will I know when I need additional help in our home
- how can I minimize confusion in my mother’s life/mind
- how can I ensure she’s getting the best nutrition

My Top Three Wishes

- my mother and I had a better relationship
- I knew how to communicate with my mother
- she has a peaceful, dignant end-of-life
