I'm G-J

Welcome to Caregiving.com. I began caring for my husband, in his late 50's, when he was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) in December 2009. My husband was put on disability and has had to retire because of this. We have a son in high school. The three of us continue to lead very active lives and refuse to let this change our lives. You can read my blog here.

I'm Old Billy

Welcome to Caregiving.com! I care for my mother and cared for my father until his death last year. My parents worked hard all their lives to provide the best for their six children and live comfortably in their retirement years. I’m determined Ma will continue to live out her life in the manner she’s been accustomed to. You can read my blog here.

Meet Dana

Dana cares for her husband, Michael. In her latest post, Dana writes, "We are very used to our life. Usually, we just go about our routines, and it’s no big deal that Michael is in a wheelchair. Usually. Then, randomly, there are times that are really tough." You can read about her bad day here.

Meet Chris

Chris, on the right, cares for Richard, diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Chris writes, "While each one of us deals with the reality of cancer in a different way, each one of us wants to look on the bright side of life. Yesterday is gone, today is here, not sure about tomorrow. It is our hope that lets us withstand problems; it is our beliefs that let us find solutions." You can read his posts here.

Holly Is The Face of Caregiving

Holly is one of The Faces of Caregiving, one of our Pinterest boards. Holly cares for her husband, Dave, pictured with her here and diagnosed in 2007 with frontotemporal dementia. Holly joins Denise once a month on Your Caregiving Journey; you can listen to their shows here.

I'm Bette

Welcome to Caregiving.com. I care for my mother, Margaret, while raising my three children. My mother, now in the severe stage of dementia, suffered a stroke when my youngest was nine months old. I believe that family means being there for each other, whether sharing the same roof or sharing time. You can read my blog here.

I'm Jane

Welcome to Caregiving.com. I care for my 17-year-old daughter, Nicole, who is my only child. Nicole was diagnosed in 2010 with a congenital heart defect and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Nicole is homeschooled and in 11th grade. She is an amazing artist and photographer. You can read my blog here.

I'm Trish

Welcome to Caregiving.com. I care for my brother Robert, who has lived with intractable epilepsy his entire life yet finds simple pleasure in beating me at cards, drinking 7-Up, telling a silly joke and watching Jeopardy. He inspires me to make the most of every day! You can read my blog here.

    Look Up

    by

How many times during the day do you catch yourself looking down? Perhaps you look down because the weight of caregiving seems too heavy. Or, maybe you look down because it feels like your life is down there—going down the drain, flushing down the toilet. Or, you might be looking down because that seems to be the best way to...

    Oh Man

Hey everyone, everything is the same here. I am having to do everything for Mom and Dad. If I am not at home, they will not eat or even go to restroom. So it is getting increasingly harder to go to lunch with friends. I feel more isolated. I don’t like feeling this way but it comes with the territory....

Tell Us: How Do Keep Your Caree Occupied?

    by

Yesterday, during Table Talk on Your Caregiving Journey, Kristin spoke about her inability to do what she enjoys. She has books to read, words to write, websites to visit… And, yet she can’t. The stress of worrying about Mary and whether Mary is safe becomes her day’s only action. It’s all she can do—think about making sure Mary is okay....

    2011…

Trish inspired me by her post about 2011. I can brag and say that I’m later than she is! I meant to get this done earlier but it has been a busy start to 2012. I don’t think I achieved as much as Trish but we had some good times/accomplishments. The year started out in January with finding out that...

    Update on Nicole

Thursday we went for our quarterly appointment for Nicole at Shand’s Hospital. One of Rick’s customers at work had told us about a different route to take that was quicker and would take two hours and five minutes as opposed to two hours and thirty minutes the way we had been going. We left about 7:35 a.m. as we had...

    Oh My Gosh (OMG)….

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is the leading organization for research and education. Every other year they have a weekend conference. In 2010 it was in California (I believe Anaheim). This year the conference is held in Orlando, Florida at Sea World. This is my backyard. They offer scholarships to help people be able to come who aren’t financially able...
