Wall 2: Wall of Honor

Wall 2: Wall of Honor

Often, care recipients suffer from the debilitating illness or disease that rob them of their former selves. As a result, we sometimes forget that our care recipients were once vibrant, interesting persons. On this wall, we encourage you to share your memories of your care recipients, including what you miss most about them.

I honor my Mom who passed away last week after suffering from dementia and heart problems for over 7 years. I was her night and weekend shifts of caregiving and grew to love her even more than I already did. My Mom was a very elegant woman – not fancy but always dressed nicely – made most of her own clothes – always had her hair done just so. No one ever believed her age. She was 89 when she died on 15 Mar 10. She crocheted, quilted, worked full-time outside the home, raised two kids with a husband that traveled 2 weeks out of the month. She came to Atlanta when she was 16 to attend business school. She was a lady way ahead of her time in 1936. I will miss her terribly but I know that she is not suffering any longer and that she is reunited with my Dad, to whom she was married 52 years. I love you and miss you, Mom. Your loving daughter
