For Your Eyes Only; Weekly Journal Exercises

(October 2, 2005)

Who are you?

There’s a saying: Pain is a part of life, suffering is optional.

Caregiving is painful, sad, distressing. Do you suffer in the caregiving role, so much so that only your pain is visible? Does your suffering define who you are?

This week, honestly reflect on who you are in your caregiving role, writing down descriptive words. Then review your words. Are these the words you want to describe who you are? If not, what words do you want to describe you?

Once you've chosen your words that describe you, then put those words into action. Be who you want to be.
