We do not have to do it alone!

As caregivers, we often put own personal needs second, which often turns into weight gain or other calamities which can affect our health. I’ve been there!

There is an  estimated 65.7 million caregivers in the U.S. Research tells us that caregiving can have serious physical health consequences. In fact, 17% of caregivers feel their health in general has gotten worse as a result of their caregiving responsibilities. I have allowed my weight to balloon up to 253 pounds, a mere 73 pounds off my target weight.

As caregivers, we are united in our care for our caree. Now through our VRide we can unite in care for ourselves.  I am excited to take this ride with ejourneys as we go to ‘visit’ Jane. Even though I have a few more miles to go than EJ, I am up for the task!

I have about 200 miles to my destination, and I am sure there are going to be some great sites to see along the way. I also think it is great to have my first destination to Orlando as I always remember my friend Fr. Richard Orlando when I see those signs in Florida. (He would not be happy that I’ve put this weight back on)

The TLO is happy that I am finally doing something for myself, so I might just have to send him a postcard from one of our destinations .

I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful extended family at Caregiving.com!

Won’t you come along for the ride with us!

Hi Chris and friends, This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me! I weigh about 285#s and need to lose a ton of weight. But Chris you have inspired me too. This is actually fun! I cannot wait to have everyone visit me at my Mom’s and my fav IHOP in Glenview, IL. You will get to meet all my favorite waiters, waitresses, and the manager and busboys. Everyone is great! (I am honestly not kidding! Right now we are celebrating the Chicago Children’s Health Network by eating there and getting a $5 certificate off… Read more »

Love this, Chris! Not long ago I crossed from “obese” down into just plain “overweight” according to my BMI, so I’m happy to be on my way, connecting and having fun on this ride! The last time my caregiving ramped up I gained 25 pounds (up to 201), which have finally come off. Now it’s time for me to go the rest of the way. IHOP is on the itinerary! Love that they’re donating to CCHN! And thanks, Chris, for your awesome suggestion (when we first planned this) that our VRide involve visiting our fellow caregivers!
