This article summary originally appeared on I’ll Be Right There, where Fern Pessin blogs about her caregiving experience and shares caregiving resources. Fern has also turned what she’s learned into a guidebook for anyone caring for an aging parent. Used with permission.
This article talks about how we don’t hear any politicians talking about their own issues around taking care of their parents. We don’t hear policy discussions at the debates on long-term care costs for the aging population and/or debt taken on by people caring for their aging parents.
What do you think?
- I think we need to speak out and push the media to include questions about this in the debates.
- We need to let our politicians know that this is a big issue that affects over 34 million people caring for their parents in the USA these days.
- In addition to healthcare, eldercare costs needs to be considered.
