Call for Presentations: 2nd Annual National Caregiving Conference

Denise
Our Second Annual National Caregiving Conference will take place November 10 and 11 in Chicago at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare, 8535 W. Higgins. Our conference hotel is conveniently located minutes from O’Hare and a subway ride from downtown Chicago. We’d love for you to submit a proposal to present at the conference.

This year, we are able to offer $200 honorariums to those who will present or participate in a panel discussion. Speakers will receive their honorarium check at the conference. Thanks to Eli Lilly and Company for its generous support of our conference, which makes these honorariums possible. (Want to join Eli Lilly and Company as a sponsor? Check out our National Caregiving Conference sponsor and exhibitor details.)

The goal of our conference is to connect attendees with support and solutions; empower attendees with insights and information; and entertain attendees with engaging and enlightening presentations. We also want to spark important conversations about what we need as family caregivers and former family caregivers in our communities, our workplaces and our health care system.

Our theme for this year's conference is:

  • Our Boldest Hours! Before. During. After.

Our conference theme will remind us of our boldest hours before, during and after our caregiving experience. Our theme also challenges us to be bold before we gather in November, while we gather during our conference, and then after our conference ends.

Friday, November 10, Presentations
Our conference will have a full day of pre-conference intensives on Friday, November 10, which can be either 50 minutes or 1 hour, 50 minutes in length. Our pre-conference intensives will include workshops which speak to specific caregiving situations, including:

  • All family caregivers

  • Caring for children

  • Caring for parents

  • Caring for spouses

  • Diversity and culture

  • Former family caregivers

  • LGBTQ family caregivers

  • Long-distance caregivers

  • Professionals who work with family caregivers

  • Working family caregivers

  • Young family caregivers

Saturday, November 11, Presentations
Our conference on Saturday, November 11, will feature presentations in three separate session tracts which are 50 minutes in length:

  • Family Caregivers: Sessions will speak to the experience of caring for a family member;

  • Former Family Caregivers: Sessions will help attendees enter the next phase of their lives.

  • Professionals Working With Family Caregivers: Sessions will help those who work with family caregivers, either through their own business or in an agency or organization. Sessions will offer insights into the caregiving experience which will help attendees work well with family caregivers. Sessions also will share marketing techniques to help reach family caregivers.

Please feel free to submit a proposal to present on Friday and/or Saturday via our form, below.

Please do not submit a proposal that is a commercial about your product or service. Commercials will not be selected.

What’s a good presentation? We’re looking to you to share simple solutions that make a big difference or demonstrate helpful techniques and tools that will make a day easier. We're also interested in presentations which reflect this year's theme. How can family caregivers be bold as they advocate, ask for help, stay engaged in their careers? How can former family caregivers boldly step into their next phase of life? We also would like a workshop that educates family caregivers on how to provide end-of-life care.

Please feel free to submit a proposal which features a presentation or a panel discussion. We encourage you to reach out to fellow family caregivers and former family caregivers to work together to create a presentation or panel discussion. Each presenter or panelist must submit a form, below.

Here’s what you need to know before submitting a proposal:

  • Presenters and panelists must currently care or have previously cared for a family member or friend.

  • Submissions also must include a link to a webinar or a podcast you’ve led or participated in. If you haven’t participated in a webinar or podcast, you can include a link to a short video you create which tells us about your caregiving experience and your presentation or your desire to participate in a round-table discussion.

  • If you are chosen to present, you are responsible for paying for your travel and hotel expenses. You will receive your $200 honorarium at the conference.

  • Those chosen to present will be featured in our National Caregiving Conference Hub beginning on March 27. We’ll also promote sessions and speakers on Caregiving.com and across our social media. Presenters will be included in our conference guide.

Deadline to submit a presentation proposal is March 6. We’ll let you know on March 30 if we select your proposal or if you will participate in a round-table discussion. Thanks so much to all who submitted a proposal!

Be sure to save the date – our conference will happen November 10 and 11, 2017. Registration opens for attendees on March 27.

Thanks to all who submitted a proposal!
