NCC18 Presenter: Anissa Amason

NCC18 Presenter: Anissa Amason

Join Anissa for the following session during our Third Annual National Caregiving Conference:

#ICHOOSETHRIVING - Redefining Caregiver Wellness on Friday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m.
This interactive presentation will focus on the key components of thriving while in a caregiver role. Anissa and her co-presenter, Heather Oglesby, will present the crucial ways in which we should be redefining caregiving and will outline methods for increased coping skills, decreased stress response, and prevention of chronic disease and illness in a caregiver's life. Holistic approaches and techniques will be provided through demonstrations and class participation during the session. Participants will leave with concrete steps and ideas to engage caregivers on their health and wellness journey. Caregivers will learn practical, tangible tips in order to begin to assess their own personal needs. This presentation will use examples from Heather's own direct experience to healing and coping as a full-time caregiver. Anissa will also introduce the concept of caring for the caregiver that will provide a prevention framework based on evidenced-based practices and research.

Through their session, Heather and Anissa will show you:

  • how to thrive as a caregiver and not just survive it

  • how to maintain your autonomy as an individual with personal goals, dreams and desires that are independent of the caregiver role

  • how to be healthier in the caregiver role then before you entered it.
