Coaches Corner: Five essential strategies that build endurance, joy and rejuvenation with Saran Craig
This session examines lessons learned from a unique project that paired an expert dementia coach with caregivers of people with dementia over a thousand miles away. Real Caregiving stories about what being your “best self” looks like along the dementia journey will validate and inspire participants. Participants will leave the session with five specific strategies to build endurance, joy, and rejuvenation into everyday life.

Saran has been involved in caregiving journeys since the age of 14, when her grandfather began his battle with Frontotemporal Dementia, and her grandmother and family stood by his side and accepted the roles of “caregivers.” Saran was witness to the trials, tribulations, joys and sorrows of caregiving first hand, which set in motion her life’s goal to support family caregivers through their own journeys. Saran received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Gerontology from Lynchburg College, and her Master’s Degree in Gerontology/Counseling from Appalachian State University. Saran has supported caregiver’s through her career with roles at AAA, Assisted Living, and most recently at Seniorlink serving as a Manager of Structured Family Caregiving and VOICE for Dementia care as a Dementia Coach. Saran lives in Carver, Massachusetts with her son and 2 daughters.
