Session #2

Palliative Care Is Not Hospice And Not About Dying: What it is, How to get it, What it does
Saturday 10 a.m.
This session will explain how palliative care differs from hospice. Palliative is available from diagnosis of a serious illness. It does not need a diagnosis of 6 months or less to live. You can receive treatment while getting palliative care. Sharon Hall is an e-Patient Ambassador for the Coalition of Compassionate Care of California and is involved in a PCORI grant project to educate consumers on palliative care.

Session #3

Panel Discussion: Friends Make All The Difference In the World
Saturday 10 a.m.
The Beatles got it right. We’ll get by with a little help from our friends.

A 2005 study reported people’s strong friendships had dropped from three to two. A 2006 study stated that 25% of respondents didn’t have anyone they could truly trust.

We all need trustworthy friends. With a professional caregiver shortage upon us, we are going to need our friends more than ever as we journey toward old age.

You will want to attend this session if:

  • Your current friends all but disappear when you need help.

  • You don’t know where and how to find loyal and trusting friends.

  • You want to leave a toxic friendship but don’t know how.

Please join facilitator, Joy Loverde and panelists Sharon Cruse, Sharon Hall, Dannelle LeBlanc, and Jeff Peterson for what promises to be a highly insightful and lively discussion on the critical topic of having, choosing, keeping, and releasing friendships, and the amazing difference friends make in our lives.

Attendees will have a better sense of whether to take action to improve the quality of their friendships.
