22nd Birthday Party: Have Fun

22nd Birthday Party: Have Fun

Every day this week, we’re celebrating Caregiving.com’s 22nd birthday with activities and prizes, including a free seat at an upcoming Certified Caregiving Consultant training program.

Today, we’re celebrating by taking time to have fun.

At some point today, do something fun, even if for only five minutes. You could take a break to play a game, enjoy your backyard, listen to your favorite music. However you define fun, take time today to enjoy it.

Share what you do to have fun in our comments section, below. I’ll choose two random winners to receive one of our daily gifts:

  • Free three-day registration and a discounted meal package for a family caregiver or former family caregiver to our upcoming Third Annual National Caregiving Conference which takes place Nov. 8-11 in Chicago;

  • Our Caregiving Comfort eBook Pack which includes PDFs of Denise’s books: “The Caregiving Years, Six Stages to a Meaningful Journey,” “Take Even More Comfort, Reflections of Hope for Caregivers” and “After Caregiving Ends, a Guide to Beginning Again.”

When you post a comment, you'll be entered into a chance to win a free seat in an upcoming Certified Caregiving Consultant training program. I'll announce our daily and grand prize winners on August 12.

I’m looking forward to reading your fun facts!

(Would you like to give back? We’re raising money to send 10 family caregivers in need to our Third Annual National Caregiving Conference. Your donation (any amount helps!) can give those who care a caring break. Thank you for whatever you can give!)

Lately I find my fun by spending time with my friend Ray, who is also my co worker. We chat daily and I get my laughs out. I also enjoy time with my great niece and nephew and my brother's dog Axle, when I go to my brother's house on the weekends.

I enjoy (love) watching the birds at my feeders - today I even spotted a tiny hummingbird in our yard! The other activity that I do on a regular basis is meditation and meditative coloring. It's like a colorful vacation for me for a few minutes.

The absolute best fun I have is with my now twelve-year-old grandson. Time spent with him chases away all the burdens and exhaustion from caregiving. He has been my best buddy for a long time. We giggle and laugh and hang out together with no expectations of each other. This past Saturday I took him to go with me to buy shrimp and then to his favorite spot to go fishing. Turns out that I like that spot also and we are going back. I don't fish but watching him and enjoying the serenity of being by the water was like having grace pour out from heaven onto me. I relaxed and found myself the happiest I have been in a very long time. The combination of sunshine, laughter, the tranquility of the water and the many times my grandson told me he loved being with me lifted me up and nourished my spirit.

For fun, I love swimming and being around water... I love doing crafty things like sewing and baking and diy- just the process of getting supplies and creating something is totally relaxing. I really like to travel but can admit I’ve *never* been on a vacation. So for now, I just get to know my city on a deeper level when I have free time. I really want to get into dancing, too. That looks really fun.

Hmmmm..I enjoy my quiet time in the morning and walking with my sister. Absolutely love porch sitting with my husband and watching hummingbirds. We have miniature cattle, so enjoy feeding them and spending time with husband at the cow pens. I appreciate being home and quiet and spending time with family. Mom and I like to play cards, watch t.v. and go on virtual field trips on YouTube. I would love to go to Austin to see my niece or get away for a weekend with my husband..those are my want to fun things. Today, will be extra fun because it is my mom's 85th birthday. We are taking her to see the old ranch and then having family for cake and ice cream tonight.
