28 Ways to Show the Love: Give Me Thanks

Denise
Each day in February, we’ll share a way that family members and friends can help the family caregiver in their lives. (A family caregiver is an individual who cares for a family member or friend, just like you.) Through our campaign, we hope to create awareness of what family caregivers do and how others can help.

Today’s tip comes from me; I help my parents and an aunt: Share your thanks for what I do.

Why this tip is important: I like my efforts to be seen, to be acknowledged. When you take the time to thank me, I can take the time to feel appreciated. And, oh, that feels so good! Your gratefulness can change my bad day and create a better day for me tomorrow. When you give thanks for me, I give thanks for you.

(Have an idea you’d like us to include? Email your idea to Denise and include an explanation of why your tip is so important.

This one is so important. We all need to hear genuine appreciation for our efforts. Gives us the encouragement we need on tough days. It's not about the ego or the look at me, it's about the acknowledgement of the love, time and tears we are giving for our caree. Especially important to me, that family says \"thanks\".
