28 Ways to Show the Love: Go Clothes Shopping with Us

Denise
Each day in February, we’ll share a way that family members and friends can help the family caregiver in their lives. (A family caregiver is an individual who cares for a family member or friend, just like you.) Through our campaign, we hope to create awareness of what family caregivers do and how others can help.

Today’s tip comes from: Toni Gitles, who took care of her mother for 14 years as she develop substantial mobility issues.

Why this tip is important: "It's a huge effort and wear and tear on my body to take mom shopping. She is totally a fashion maven and dresses beautifully. Taking her wheelchair in and out of the car, wheeling her around the store looking for clothes she wants to try on, helping her try on the clothes in the dressing room, running around the store looking for the right size, taking her to the ladies room. getting the wheelchair back in the trunk of the car and getting her home again, requires my being in the best possible mood and health! If you enjoy shopping, it will be more fun for me and less strain on my body with someone to help me with mom and a typical outing she loves."

(Have an idea you’d like us to include? Email your idea to Denise and include an explanation of why your tip is so important.)
