28 Ways to Show the Love: Prepare a Meal

Denise
Each day in February, we'll share a way that family members and friends can help the family caregiver in their lives. (A family caregiver is an individual who cares for a family member or friend, just like you.) Through our campaign, we hope to create awareness of what family caregivers do and how others can help.

Today's tip comes from Cathy (@cathyj), who cares for her mom: Help by fixing a meal.

Why this tip is important: Mom lives with us full time. Because of multiple health issues, she eats six small meals a day with restrictions. Some days, it is just a challenge to think of what to cook, make sure I have every thing to make the meal, get it cooked and get it on the table in time. You come by to visit and it is usually around a meal time. Sometime, call ahead and say "Don't worry about dinner. I am bringing it." You don't need to stay and eat, it doesn't have to be elaborate, it just needs to be a meal. Would be a huge relief and help. P.S. Please ask if there are any restrictions so the meal can be eaten by mom and I don't have to fight the battle of "No, you can't have that."
